Giving

Created on: 18 June 2019

Thank you for visiting our Giving page. Here you will find various ways to give to the church. We are a registered charity (reference: 1087910). But firstly please read about the Gift Aid scheme.

Gift Aid

When you give to the Church, please consider giving under Gift Aid. With Gift Aid, all that you need to do is provide a declaration. The declaration requires you to confirm that you will pay an amount of income tax or capital gains tax equal to the tax that the Church claims back on your gift.

Gift Aid allows the church to reclaim the basic rate tax (currently 20%) on the gross gift. This means that the gift is worth an extra 25% to the charity, e.g. a donation of £100 is worth £125 to the church.

To authorise the Church to reclaim tax on gifts please complete and submit the online Gift Aid Form found in the link below.

Standing Order

You can give to the Church through a regular Standing Order. This is an excellent way to give as it ensures that the church receives all of your donation with no platform charges.

You can ask your bank to make regular payments from your account directly into the church’s bank account.

There are two ways you can do this:

1. Set up or amend a standing order, log in to your online banking or notify your local branch with our bank account details:

Community of the Holy Fathers
Account Number: 00438625
Sort Code: 30-97-62
Please quote a reference as: your first name and surname.

2. Download, print, fill out and return to the treasurer the Standing Order Mandate in the link below.

Once you have set up or amended your standing order please treasurer[at]shrewsburyorthodox.com so we can identify your gift.

PayPal

You can give to the Church using PayPal.  If you have a PayPal account you can easily set up a regular monthly donation using PayPal in five very easy steps:

  1. follow the link to the PayPal Donate Page below
  2. Set your donation value and set this to recur monthly
  3. Login with your PayPal account
  4. Select your gift aid options and the bank account you want to use to pay your donation from
  5. Submit the Donation

Please be aware that PayPal charges the church a 2.9% fee on all Donations but it is very quick and convenient for you to set up and you can cancel this at any time.

Payroll Giving

Some people use Payroll Giving. This is a way to give money without paying tax on it. It is paid through someone’s wages or pension. Your employer needs to set up and run the scheme and you provide our charity details. Please get in touch with a member of the community board if you would like details of our charity for Payroll Giving.

Legacies

Gifts in wills can help to transform the lives of the church of the Holy Fathers of Nicaea. They are an important part of Christian giving and leaving a gift to our church is a way to thank God for all the blessings you have received in your lifetime.

Please visit our legacies page for more information.

Stewardship

Thank you for reading about how to give to the Church. Please visit our Stewardship page on this website to find out more about how offering to God a portion of the gifts with which we have been blessed helps promote our spiritual growth and strengthen our faith.  On this page you can also find a link to complete a Stewardship Commitment Card to set out how you plan to help the church in the coming year both financially and with your time and talents.
