Gifts for children of the Shrewsbury Ark
On Monday 20 December we delivered two large boxes and many gift bags of presents to the Shrewsbury Ark from all of the children of the Youth Club for the children that the Shrewsbury Ark knows will be facing a very difficult Christmas this year.
Thank you to all of the parents and children who provided presents and helped wrap them up at the club on Sunday.
We continue our ongoing appeal for the Shrewsbury Ark during advent. You can give in church in the collection baskets , via our PayPal Giving Page, or the Shrewsbury Ark’s Charitable Aid Foundation page.
Festal preparations and celebrations
On Thursday 23 December at 10.30am the church will be cleaned, prepared and decorated for the feast of the Nativity. Please come and help!
Father Stephen will be in church from 5.00pm on Friday 24 December to hear confessions.
On the eve of the Nativity after the Vesperal Liturgy there will be mince pies and sherry in the church. All are welcome!
After the Liturgy on New Year’s day for the feast of Saint Basil and the Circumcision of the Lord there will be the cutting of the Vassilopita (Saint Basil’s bread). This year is the centenary of our Archdiocese and there will be special commemorative coins to mark the occasion.
After the Feast of Theophany on 6 December there will be the blessing of the River Severn followed by lunch at the River Bank. Please let Presvytera know if you would like to come.
House blessings
Each year at the time of Theophany it is customary for the faithful to arrange for their homes and businesses to be blessed. Please get in touch with Father Stephen or Presvytera Catherine on 01939 291 078 to arrange a house blessing.
